Some updates: AGM Tue 24 Jul special resolution and adult member price rise

Hi Piranhas,

AGM:

This is your 30 day reminder notice of our Orange Cycling & Triathlon Club AGM for 24 July, 6pm Hotel Canobolas, Media Room on 1st floor.

As part of our constitution, there will be a special resolution – I can’t recall the exact sentence but it is something like:

A special resolution that allows the triathlon sub-committee to be formed at a time of year that is not the same day as the AGM.

The intention of this resolution is to form the next season committee at the end of a season, rather than 2 months out from a new season. So for example if this special resolution was passed, we would form the season 2019/20 committee in early April 2019 (our season will end in March 19) rather than July 2019 (at AGM) in preps for season 2019/20^. Note that awesome performances after 31 Mar 19 (eg Port IM / 70.3) will be considered the first events of the next season and be considered for ‘Performance of the Year’ of the next season.

Adult membership price increase from $20 to $30: (and some insight into where our funds come from)

We have some funding required for the proposed equipment storage shed at Gosling – note Orange City Council and Orange Credit Union have both been v generous – and we have some savings. The committee thought long and hard about this and have decided to put our adult membership up. Part of the reason for the price rise is that we ran out of adult volunteers for the meat raffles every three weeks that used to be a good income stream, so we’ve had to look at other ways to ensure we can afford the shed, and not compromise the standard running costs for our safe events. Our Junior triathlon weekend (3rd edition on 01/02 Dec 2018) and junior races at Club Champs are excellent income streams, so we ask our adult members to assist with this increase.

So for those adult members on auto renewal of their membership, the deduction will be $30 instead of $20. The club will continue to monitor this each season – you are welcome to come to the AGM if you have funding ideas!

Thanks, Dave Hunter

^We don’t want to move the AGM to April as that means we would need to change our financial year end which is currently 30 Jun, which could be quite messy. So this special resolution is the cleanest way to get preps going for the following season.
