Open Water Swim Series – Race 1 Cancelled

OPEN WATER SWIM SERIES
SWIM #1 – 23rd January 2020 CANCELLED.

The water quality at Gosling Creek is still sitting at Amber Alert Level. The NSW Water definition of AMBER Alert can be found at this link
https://www.waternsw.com.au/water-quality/algae

Essentially at an Amber Alert the water is generally considered suitable for recreational water sports, but water users are advised to exercise caution. Water users should always use personal discretion before entering a water body and be aware that an algal situation can change quickly. It is also advised not to drink untreated or boiled water from the water source due to the risk of stomach upsets.

The OCTC committee is committed to the wellbeing of all of its members and does not wish for anyone to get sick at the peak of their training. To this end, it has decided to cancel the first swim of the Open Water Swim series due to the poor water quality in Gosling Creek.

We hope that you understand our position and be patient during this extraordinarily unusual season. For those wishing to swim at this time, there may be a few triathletes heading to the Orange Aquatic Centre instead.

Please accept our sincere apology for this cancellation.
An update on the Swim #2 will be given in due course.
