Welcome to 2020!

January 2020 Events and Cycle Path Update

We trust everyone had an enjoyable Christmas period despite the dreadful time Australians are having right now. We hope you all looking forward to the remainder of the 2019/2020 Triathlon Season.

Great News – the Gosling Creek Cycle Path Upgrade is going well with the foundation work done ready for the asphalt to be laid after Australia Day. The dirt path is suitable for use when it’s dry and has been used by Park Run for a few weeks. We are hoping by Sunday 2nd February, our next Club Event, it will be ready to race on.

Even Better News – The weather bureau are predicting rain over the coming 4-5 days . Many areas have been badly affected by bushfire, drought, heat waves, smoke and dust haze for the past few months so we are very hopeful that some good rain is coming. With 40-90mm of rain predicted for Orange from Thursday to Sunday we have decided that we will not risk damaging the track for our Club Race on Sunday 19th January. Details below.

Club Race – Sunday 19th January Amended venue and format:
Orange Aquatic Centre –  Swim/Run Training event

8:30am start for a swim/run or just a swim or just a run at Orange Aquatic Centre. Participants are asked to pay for their own pool entry.

Coffee catchup afterwards. All welcome.

Swim 1 of the Open Water Swim Series – Thursday 23rd January

The first of our 3 Race Open Water Swim Series is planned for Thursday 23rd January between 4:30pm-6:30pm at Gosling Creek. The water quality is now at ‘Advice Level’ with early stages of algae forming. The much anticipated rain will help with this situation. Please keep an eye on our weekly posts about future water quality updates.

The future dates for the Swim Series are: 6 February and 20 February.

Central West Interclub Series – Bathurst – Australia Day – Sunday 26th January

The second race of the Central West Interclub series will be held in Bathurst on Australia Day. The ‘tradition’ of wearing green and gold on Australia Day continues this year. We encourage anyone with an Australian Tri-Suit or Green and Gold kit to wear it proudly. With vital participation and performance points to be awarded to TA Members we urge Club Members to spend the morning of Australia Day at the Bathurst Interclub Race. Piranhas – we need you!!!
