Hi Piranhas and friends of the club,
Orange has been hit with great weather and I hope our members are dusting off togs, bikes and joggers and getting out there. The outdoor pool is now open and yes, the magpies are swooping, but surely they will end soon!
Congrats to Megan Goodwin and her team at Western Sydney Half Ironman last Sunday, and to Paul Eccleston and Dave Hunter in the individual who started together (intentionally) and finished together (unintentionally). Bummer for Erica Eccleston who couldn’t compete as mum duties called to support an unexpected appendix removal for her daughter Chloe.
And quite a few other familiar Orange faces were there in teams and supporting, plus friends from other Central West clubs. We had great weather, uncongested swim, roads are 98% excellent and a spectator friendly run course. If you are thinking about a Half Ironman (1.9k swim, 90k bike, 21k run), individually or as a team, I thoroughly recommend Western Sydney for Sun 22 Sep 2024 and it being only 3 hours from Orange. And OTC has no affiliations with the event.
A reminder we have our ‘Break the Ice’ duathlon on Sun 08 Oct at Gosling Creek – it will be an internal^ duathlon (run / bike / run) from 8am (mix of distances) and then the ceremonial ‘Break the Ice’ where we plunge into Gosling Creek to mark the start of the season.
