Last Club Race for the Season plus Handicap Race and Junior presentation

Hi to all Piranha’s

The last club race for the season is this weekend Sunday 29 March 2015 and what a great season it has been!

To finish the year we are planning a FUN day, consisting of our Junior’s presentations with our now annual handicap race, but don’t worry the racing will still be fast, furious and competitive as this is the only way Piranha’s know how to race.

JUNIOR’S PRESENTATIONS
Immediately following the Midget’s and Junior races all competitors will receive a trophy and have the chance to stand on the podium for photos. A BBQ (sausage sizzle) will be provided and a jumping castle to keep everyone entertained.

HANDICAP RACE(S)
The handicap race will be run over a short track this year, consisting of 200m swim (first pontoon), 6Km bike (turnaround at Canobolas Rd), 1.5Km run (over the bridge to the big tree and return). The shorter distance will allow everyone to compete, with the emphasis being on fun and participation.

Following on from the success of our inaugural handicap race, we are adding a team race to the program this year. The team race will consist of two people, each completing the course (short track) in a relay format. That is, the first team member will complete the entire course, then tag the second team member who also completes the entire course. The teams will also be handicapped to ensure close racing, and will not be announced until just before the start of the race. To ensure as many people can compete as possible the following team divisions will be run.
Families – At least one team member under 14 years.
Open – Team will be decided by handicapper and announced on the day.
Relay – Teams within a team. Each member completing their chosen discipline twice! Eg. swim.

HANDICAP PROCESS
Handicap Race – All club members that have raced this year will be issued with a handicap start position. You will be notified of your starting time at registration on Sunday. Should you wish to compete either as a team or individual please contact the handicapper.
Team Race – Please contact the handicapper if you wish to enter a Family or Relay Team.
Handicapper – Michael Lockyer
Contact details-:
email – m.lockyer1974@bigpond.com
mobile – 0429 462 767
Please note-:
Handicaps will be set on the most recent recorded time. All efforts will be made to ensure the racing is close, fair and most importantly fun.
Should you have been “foxing” during your last race (Tony Selwood) or feigned injury (Dan Benton) or mechanical problems (Brian Kenelly) to record a slower time, you will be dealt with severely by the handicapper.
All bribes will be taken but not necessarily enacted.
All protests will be considered and then dismissed immediately. Your handicap will be immediately reviewed and penalised for next year.

BBQ & DRINKS
To conclude the day and our season I encourage everyone to stay around for a BBQ, refreshments and a chat. The club will be providing a “sausage sizzle”, drinks, fruit, etc. in the recovery area. However, please feel free to supply your own meat, salads, drinks, etc. for after. Looking forward to catching up with everyone to recap the year.
