Dazzling success for 2nd Annual Orange Junior Weekend
A bumper weekend of triathlon skills and racing at our Gosling Creek over the last two days in the 2nd Annual Orange Junior Triathlon Weekend, held in conjunction with Triathlon NSW. Orange has not seen so many juniors, with Saturday skills and races capped at 90, and Sunday races with 139 across four different distances. Triathletes from as far afield as Albury, Canberra, Leeton, Port Macquarie, the Illawarra, Singleton and Sydney joined Central West locals from Mudgee, Bathurst and our own Orange juniors for a great weekend to learn and race.
As highlighted in the race briefing this morning, mixed team relays are growing in popularity and importance – it is now a Commonwealth Games and Olympic event and Australia is current mixed teams world champion. Watch out future Australian teams with the racing on show over the weekend!
NSW Super Sprint titles on the Saturday were won by Canberra’s Chloe Bateup and Sydney’s Luke Schofield.
Find here the results for Saturday’s racing: Saturday race results

The Orange Tri Club thanks the parents and triathletes who came to our event, the many volunteers that contributed to safe and fast racing, WestLime for the 30 tonnes of sand, Steve Martin at Precision Sports Timing, the Orange Bush Nippers for water marshalling, and the coaches that included Tri NSW head coach Mick Delamotte. Special mention to Phil Tudor and Mel Ashton-Garard who had the idea, innovation and energy to drive the second instalment which improved further on last year’s weekend. It is now a core event for our club – we will be back in November 2018!
Thanks, Dave Hunter
