Handicap Race and Team Super Sprint – Sunday 31 January

Our first race for 2016 is the Handicap Race and Team Super Sprint.  Megan Goodwin is looking to secure her third consecutive Handicap victory, however the handicapper may have something to say about that!!!  The Team Super Sprint was introduced last year and is a fun, somewhat chaotic, competitive race teaming families and friends.

HANDICAP RACE

Raced over the “Short External” course, competitors set off at pre-determined intervals (handicaps) based on performances from this year.  The winner is “first past the post” and awarded the perpetual “walking stick” trophy.  The shortened distance matches racers, of all levels and abilities against one another.

Distances-:

·         Swim                     200m

·         Bike                       6Km

·         Run                        1.2Km

As has been the case in previous years, the handicapper is open to all forms of bribery and cohesion!

TEAM SUPER SPRINT

A fun event where everyone wins and participation is the main aim.  The “Team Super Sprint” is a relay race whereby each team must complete the course twice in succession.  Run over the same course as the Handicap Race (listed above), there are 3 categories to enter-:

·         Junior (U18) & Senior Team

·         Junior Team (U18)

·         Senior Team

Each team must have a minimum of 2 people to a maximum of 6.  For example, two people will complete the entire course (a triathlon each) in succession, or 6 people will do a leg each in relay to complete the course twice.

You need to nominate your team and category.  Please send all nominations to octc@octc.org.au.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

·         7.30am                 Registration

·         8.00am                 Midgets “Guppies” Race

·         8.15am                 Junior “Guppies” Race

·         8.45am                 Handicap Race

·         10.00am               Team Super Sprint

With the opportunity to race twice in one day this is a great opportunity to work on your “bricks” and “transitions”, as well as high intensity racing.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

As always race hard, fair and with OCTC pride.
