Smashing success in Junior gala afternoon @ Gosling – 14 Oct
A terrific Junior skills afternoon was run at Gosling Creek this afternoon. Run by Mel Ashton-Garard, she had the group of 50 juniors split up into smaller groups and Jessie, Abby, Charlotte, Tom, Ben, Ethan and Mel took them through run and bike skills before a short, non-competitive duathlon at the end.
Next junior skills afternoon is Sat 02 Dec (note this is a date change) at 2:30pm and there might be a small Christmas surprise for all participants! But you don’t have to wait that long for your next Junior tri fix, we have our Junior weekend on 04/05 Nov. Check the website for more details.
A huge thanks to Mel and her posse of coaches. Thanks also to: Mick and Phil for packing the truck and bringing gear from Lake Canobolas, set up by Phil and Kim (I’m sure I’ve missed someone), first aid from Anna – I think her doctor skills were not called on which is always good, Megan with float and rego set up, and parents who brought their kids to the event and helped out.
Footnote 1: The pace was fast in the short coach duathlon before the kids. For parents out at Gosling this arvo who might consider a tri, those coaches today are the pointy end of speed in our club and do not represent the pace of the rest of us!
Footnote 2: Four lost and found items – let the tri club know if they’re yours on octc@octc.org.au and tee up a pick up:
- Small semi-transparent bike light
- Grey hoodie, about size 8 with LOVE on front
- Black mesh cap with ‘Hornets’ team logo
- Black front visor of bike helmet
