TREX Cross Triathlon – Snowy Mountains Crackenback
A great group of Orange Piranhas headed south to Crackenback last weekend to compete in the TREX Cross Triathlon event. A truly off-road and rural experience with wild deer, kangaroos and snakes on the course. There were many thrills and some spills, but all returned home in good spirits.
Our members competed in three events – Standard, Sprint and Duathlon. Terrific results all round with Piranhas placing in the top 4 for every event. Results and a pic below:
Standard Distance – Janet Martin, 2nd (50-54). Kim Dale completed the swim and one bike lap,but had a spill which finished her race.
Sprint Distance – Hannah McDermott, 3rd (18-29); and in the over 50 age group – 2nd, Julie Middleton; 3rd – Carolyn Egan and 4th Cas Ingham. Pretty unfair age bracket to compete in, don’t you think!
In the Duathlon Standard Distance – Joanne Smith placed 2nd and Sue Dean 3rd in the ladies (pictured finishing). In the men’s event, initially Simon Lun was listed as 2nd, but there were some complications out on the course and then in the final results… we’re not really sure where he placed in the end, but we’re taking a near podium result.
