Organised events during COVID restrictions

We have been advised by technical officials at TNSW that there has been discussions about the relaxation of COVID restrictions relating to community sport.

In summary, Sport NSW has advised that clubs are not permitted to conduct events, because a club event is considered to be “community sport”. At this stage, the only indication we’ve heard is that community sport may return at 80% ‘double vaccinated’.

Triathlon NSW (along with a number of other sports) have written to the Office of Sport seeking clarification. There appears to be significant confusion and obvious ambiguity between the current Public Health Order, which appears to open up the door for community sport to return, and the communication we’ve received from Sport NSW.

It appears odd that gyms are allowed to open for 20 participants but 20 of our members (fully vaxxed) can’t come together for an organised swim, bike or run.

TNSW will continue to provide you with updates and clarifications and we will share them with members as we receive them.
