Newsletter 8/11/2023 – Duathlon last Sunday – Twilight Series Starts Friday – Juniors Weekend

Club Duathlon – Sunday 5/11/2023
A great trio of duathlons was held out at Gosling Creek last sunday morning.
Awesome 42 starters across our three events with the Zoom, then Super Sprint and then Sprint distances.
Lots of familiar faces and we love the new athletes who have joined the Piranhas.
A big thank you to our volunteers in the set up, race marshalling and pack up. Great to see Kinross Wolaroi School Triathlon Club in big numbers for the Super Sprint.
Thankyou also to Justin Stent who captured some fantastic images. Check out the photo album on Facebook.
Twilight Series Starts this Friday – Four Weeks from 10/11/2023-1/12/2023
We have the first of our twilight series starting this Friday with 5:15pm set up and 6pm start for the first event.
Water temp was 18-19 degrees last sunday so it might be our first triathlon of the season, however we will check the temperature after this rain.
We also require a volunteer to be on a paddle board to ensure water safety. If you can help out please let us know at octc@octc.org.au or send us a Facebook message.
This is a training event series – there will be no timing. You can go out hard or take your time developing your skills.
Both members and people new to triathlon/duathlon are welcome as its a great way to try the different legs and build confidence in putting them all together.
This is also a great opportunity to get some fun practice in before the Mudgee Interclub, the Sandy Ostini Ladies Event on saturday 9/12/2023 and other races.
You pick from a short triathlon/duathlon/swim, aquabike or aquathon – each event will start at 6:00pm, 6:25pm and 6:50pm, so pick your times, and do 1, 2 or all 3!
If you knock off work late feel free to join us for the later ones. You can also choose to miss the 2nd event if you need more time to recover in between.
The bike leg is held on the excellent internal track, away from cars. Meet at the shed at 5:15pm to receive or give help on how to rack your bike.
Set up from 5:15pm at Gosling Creek for events at 6:00pm, 6:25pm. 6:50pm
Take your pick from the options here, and choose to do any of them once, twice or thrice:
Open Water Swim – One lap (270m) or two (540m)
Small Loop Triathlon – 140m swim, 4km bike, 1km run (amended for the young Piranhas- 20-50m swim, 1km bike, 500m run)
        Aquabike – 270m swim, 4km bike
        Duathlon – 400m run, 4km bike, 1km run
        Aquathon – 270m swim, 1km run
The idea is that each participant will do the distance (or an individual legs) that allows them to finish and recover in time for the next event start if you choose to do more than 1.
Come out and give it a go.
“Juniors Weekend’ – Round 3 of the Billigence NSW/ACT Pathway Series
NSW Super Sprint & NSW Mixed Relay Championships – Youth, Junior and Under 23.
This is one of our premier events for the season. It’s a full day on Saturday and a half day on Sunday with roughly 120 Youth, Junior and Under 23s, training and racing at Gosling Creek.
The event also incorporates the NSW Super Sprint Championship/NSW Mixed Relay Championships which showcases the best young athletes in NSW.
A great opportunity for our junior members to race local against many other juniors and for our members to come out and check out some fantastic race action.
We encourage our junior members to either join in for the full weekend or just the non drafting race on sunday morning. Registrations close on next Wednesday 15th Nov 2023.
You must be a Triathlon Australia member to race.
Costs – 25-26/11/2023 – Non drafting 12yrs plus – both days including Saturday lunch $82.00
Sunday morning only – Non drafting 12yrs plus $16.50 and Orange Junior Event Non drafting 9-11yrs $16.50.

As the host club we require lots of volunteers to run this event safely and smoothly.
Please put your hand up to be involved by emailing octc@octc.org.au or look out for the TryBooking link we will include next week.
This event also serves as our only fundraiser activity for the club so that we can keep club membership prices low – for one weekend it is a lot of work but more manageable than weekly meat raffles at the pub. Please help out if you can.

See you out at Gosling soon.
